Performance Friday!

Hey MVRMS you know that thing they are saying on announcements about the “ Hip Hop people” well I’m here to explain that you see they are not saying the whole truth, it’s really dancing, singing, song-writing, acting, instrumentals and much much more! The pleasure of the Mahaiwe Theater has been brought to us. They are all doing all the artistic creations, with a couple kids from each grade, and I am one of them.
So please come on down to the Mahaiwe Theater on Friday night at 7 o’clock  to see your fellow classmates perform!

The Way......          by Sadie

Hi readers! I'm a new fifth grade writer for the Green Hill Gazette and I had an idea a few days ago/weeks ago/months/years ago, depends on when you’re reading this. I think a little bit of realistic fiction is good once and awhile, so every few weeks I will bring you a chapter of a fiction book (and this book is one-hundred percent not based off of me). I’m hoping you like it and also hoping you’ll keep reading it and the rest of our blog. If you have read this far, thank you. Here goes nothing!

The Way I-Urg Never Mind I’m Bad at Coming Up With Titles

Prologue:

If you like books that start with once upon a time, then I am not your girl. I start books off in my own kind of way, for example, “Hi this is a book and you reader are a bookworm if you are reading it.” or maybe, “Yo I’m not sure why I’m sitting here wasting my time writing.” or maybe something super simple like, “Hi my name is Leona Bright and I am 11 years old.”
But I already started this book with “My own kind of way” beginning so we don’t have to worry about that anymore. I don’t exactly know how I got myself into this mess, I mean who wants to write a book, but I am and that's that. I for one don’t get the point of learning facts that you almost always will not use in life! Take algebra for instance. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO USE THAT? In fact I don’t get school at all! We sit in a classroom all day and learn how do stuff that won’t solve any of our problems. if we did karate in school then this book would be a whole lot different. But this is not a book about how my awesome school taught me to do karate, oh no, this a book about how I survived the horrors of middle school and how I, Leona Bright got the name, “Best middle schooler of all time!” (Fine. That last part may have been a lie.)

Chapter one. WHY MY TOWN IS THE WORST:
My mornings never start out right, or as a sensible person would say, I wake up on the “wrong side of the bed.” I really don’t get it. If your bed is in a loft and you wake up on different sides of it every morning, then how every morning how do I wake up on the, “Wrong side” every. single. morning? Annnnnnnyway. I live in the very quiet and and annoying town of Balance street. Why is Balance street annoying you ask? Well, there are no other kids except for my down the street neighbours 2 year old daughter named Kitty. My parents work at a boring clothes designing place 500,000,000,000,000 hours away so I have to get up extra early for them to drive me to school because the bus doesn’t come to my house. Then my house is the last stop, so when I get on the bus I have to squish into a spot next to who knows what person. Then there’s the actual center of town. There are no restaurants, stores, parks, libraries, or anything else remotely fun. All there is, is a lame post office and a town hall. As you can see my town is the ultimate last place you would ever want to go in the whole big, entire, revolving universe!
(Fine, maybe I was exaggerating a tiny bit)

That's it folks! Didya like it? If so please join me next week!

By: Francesca Schifano + Stella Baden

Hey everybody! Today at Monument Valley we will be ……
interviewing Mrs. Fisher the fifth grade social studies teacher!

Francesca and Stella: How long have you been teaching at Monument Valley Middle School?
Mrs. Fisher: I have been teaching here for 7 years. But I have been teaching for 21 years in all, at different schools.
Francesca and Stella: What other subjects have you taught in the past?
Mrs. Fisher: I have taught reading, social studies, ELA, and a little bit of math.
Francesca and Stella: What is your favorite subject to teach?
Mrs. Fisher: I must say it is equal between social studies and ELA.
Francesca and Stella: Have you had any other jobs besides a being a teacher?
Mrs. Fisher: No, I have not.
Francesca and Stella: Is there anything else you want to share?
Mrs. Fisher: I am so happy to be back in fifth grade this year. Thank you, you beautiful girls.

That was our interview with Mrs. Fisher at Monument Valley Middle School.
